oh what a year!

Before the year ends, I wanted to get in one more post and also get a jump start on my New Year's resolution to blog more. We'll see if this resolution lasts longer than my gym membership.

In 2010, I was asked to design the 60th Anniversary pin for the Linden, California Lions pin. This was a great honor for me as my family is heavily involved with Lions Clubs International. In fact, my cousin was just elected President for his chapter. And I thought this to be a fitting post to end the year as we both had a memorable 2011! Bob was not only elected President, but he and his beautiful wife also welcomed their precious son Robby in July. Go Bob!

Have a wonderful 2012 everyone! See you next year!

season's greetings

I hope everyone had a truly wonderful Christmas holiday. I am already going through Christmas withdrawals. December 25th came and went too fast this year.

Each winter season brings a new batch of Holiday Card designs but one will always stand out as my favorite. I had the distinct honor again this year to design the Christmas Card for Robert and Shannon Jordan and they once again rank as the Coolest Couple at Christmas. Shannon called me up in November wanting to know how hard it would be to design a caricature of them for the card. I really didn't know.  I had never done a card like that before. Turns out that it was a lot harder than I expected, but oh so fun! I love being able to bring their vision to life. And I can't wait to see what they come up with next year!

merry christmas from my design booth

I know it has been a long, long time since I have posted anything on the blog but I wanted to take this moment to sincerely thank every one of my clients for keeping me too busy for the blog. This has been my best year to date for work, family, and creativity and I can't wait to share all that I have been working on as we start a brand new shiny year.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and hoping you made it on the nice list this year!

christmas in july (part two)

Hooray for Christmas in July! It's almost like I have to brainwash myself with thoughts of chilly winter air in order to brave the 100 degree temperatures of Tennessee. So in keeping with my air-conditioned delirium, I wanted to share two of my favorite cards from last year.

christmas in july (part one)

Anybody who knows me also knows that I am a complete winter holiday junkie. I love all things wintry and white and cannot wait to hear those sleigh bells a ring ting tingle-ing too. As I started the happy process of designing holiday cards this month, I was checking in with the US Post Office to see when they will be releasing the holiday stamps for 2011 (it's October for you early birds). Along with cinnamon in my morning coffee and Vince Guaraldi in my iTunes, these little guys get me in the designing mood. The colors are bright and and cheery this year and I especially love, love the Hanukkah stamp. Oh, the art of holiday correspondence...

oopsie daisies

Last year, I was humbled to be asked by Molly Risak, my former boss, great friend and all-around wonder woman, to design for her company Oopsie Daisies. Oopsie Daisies offers comfortable, modest and uplifting hospital apparel for children and adults.
From her site: "Each Oopsie Daisies gown is designed of 100% cotton knit jersey. Long sleeves with snap openings from the wrist to the neckline provide for the functionality of traditional gowns. Sizes are available for children (4T) through adult (XXL). The back of each gown is completely enclosed for additional warmth and modesty.

The message conveyed on each Oopsie Daisies gown is the highlight and primary differentiator from traditional hospital gowns. Empowering patients (as well as anyone who encounters the patient) with encouraging and positive thoughts can provide the mental, emotional and spiritual energy to complement their medical treatment and propel them toward optimal health."

I am so proud and beyond excited to be involved with this innovated company. These designs definitely get placed in the “all time favorite projects” folder!

For pricing and availability of Oopsie Daisies gowns, please visit http://oopsiedaisies.com. Oopsie Daisies is a division of Grin and Bare It Designs LLC.

And a big thank you to Heather Wulfemeyer for the awesome photos.

etsy sneek peak 2011

Lately, it has been "raining babies" at My Design Booth and I love it. I have 3 new birth announcement templates that I will be selling at my Etsy store very soon. Here is a sneak peek of one of the styles. Let me know what  you think!

And of course, I use my kids as models. They owe me.

design improv

A little bit of Design Improv for my daughter’s 4th birthday. “Mommy, I want a Rapunzel Party at Monkey Joe’s Bounce House!” And voilá, here is her invitation that demonstrates what I do best…Design Improv. Translation? Taking the least likely theme and location that would ever go together and making it work.

Anything for you, my sweet Olivia.
