get tapped in

This seems like a fitting post for Friday. “Get Tapped In” is the slogan for a truly innovative company, iPourit.com. iPourIt is a unique patent pending technology that allows the customers of a bar to pour their own beer with the use of wristbands to monitor how many ounces have been poured. Crazy cool, huh? You know what else is crazy cool? When ingenious owners like Brett Jones trust you to design their brand.

How does it work? From the site: When a customer enters the bar, the bartender swipes their ID and credit card at the management workstation. They are then given a uniquely encoded RFID wristband. As soon as a customer touches a tap handle, their wristband ID is read and several checks are instantly done to validate the wristband. The valve is then opened and allows the beer to be poured. The customer can pour as little or as much as they want and the exact number of ounces poured are automatically added to their tab.

The system has configurable controls to limit the number of ounces that can be poured in a given amount of time. Once the limits are reached the customer can visit with a bartender again who can make a decision to allow more ounces to be consumed or cut them off.

iPourIt has an online website for customers to visit that will show them their history of pours from every bar they have visited. They can rate beers which will offer them suggestions for other beers to try. Bars can target market to customers based on their pouring and rating history. The site also allows someone to search for a beer nearby and even prepay for a pint online that reserves it at a local bar.
Thank you Brett for trusting me with your brand. Cheers to you!

from soup to nuts at Table7

I’ve been wanting to post about Table7 Events, Inc. for quite some time now. Stephanie L. Hassan came to me in October 2011 in need of a complete brand – from logo to web – for her Fullerton, CA event planning company. Little did I know that this was about to become one of my all-time favorite branding projects – from start to finish.

Stephanie is so much more than an event planner. She is a wedding coordinator, corporate event planner, and event stylist. She is a crafty lady who embraces DIY projects and turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. She is trendy, honest, creative and inventive – all qualities that any bride or client (or graphic designer for that matter) would love.
After we created a logo, watermark, color palette, background patterns, business card, postcards, splash page and website, Stephanie took her brand to the next level with a custom blog on blogger. I already love her stylish posts and DIY instructions!

Thank you Stephanie for trusting me with your vision and developing your brand.
A toast to Table7 for years of success!

And if you are in the market for a new identity or brand make-over, give me a shout and I will be more than happy to give you a quote. I absolutely love branding...

go on...be a (social) tease

If you haven’t heard of the Social Tease line of shirts yet, you need to be checking out this site. Orange County local, Nancy Chapman, is the creator and sole proprietor of Social Tease. Social Tease’s mission is giving back one tee at a time by donating 25% of the proceeds from the profits of each tee to animal rescue and conservation groups” and they do this through great design and faboulous shirts. Nancy asked if I would design a couple of shirts (Cougar and Puppy Love) for her t-shirt line as well as designing her Big Cartel website, I “pounced” at the opportunity.

From the site: Social Tease is a lifestyle brand designed to make a positive difference. Founded by Nancy Chapman, a lifelong animal lover with sartorial flair to spare, Social Tease is the inspired result of her twin passions for environment and fashion.
Nancy’s volunteer work at a local animal shelter motivated her first line of Tee’s, “Save A Life, Adopt A Pet.” Working with like-minded designers who embraced her vision of making a difference, Social Tease came to be with six designs which include the most popular – “Prejudice is the Pits.” Notable for their stylish designs and positive, pro-active messages, Social Tease has been embraced by a growing audience of socially conscious clients of all ages.
Thank you Nancy for letting me work with you and your inspiring brand! And although my recent birthday may suggest otherwise, I have never really considered myself a Cougar…but for you…I’ll be a Cougar who makes a difference.

You can find Social Tease at www.socialtease.org and
It’s retail therapy that makes you feel good for giving back.

oh what a year!

Before the year ends, I wanted to get in one more post and also get a jump start on my New Year's resolution to blog more. We'll see if this resolution lasts longer than my gym membership.

In 2010, I was asked to design the 60th Anniversary pin for the Linden, California Lions pin. This was a great honor for me as my family is heavily involved with Lions Clubs International. In fact, my cousin was just elected President for his chapter. And I thought this to be a fitting post to end the year as we both had a memorable 2011! Bob was not only elected President, but he and his beautiful wife also welcomed their precious son Robby in July. Go Bob!

Have a wonderful 2012 everyone! See you next year!

season's greetings

I hope everyone had a truly wonderful Christmas holiday. I am already going through Christmas withdrawals. December 25th came and went too fast this year.

Each winter season brings a new batch of Holiday Card designs but one will always stand out as my favorite. I had the distinct honor again this year to design the Christmas Card for Robert and Shannon Jordan and they once again rank as the Coolest Couple at Christmas. Shannon called me up in November wanting to know how hard it would be to design a caricature of them for the card. I really didn't know.  I had never done a card like that before. Turns out that it was a lot harder than I expected, but oh so fun! I love being able to bring their vision to life. And I can't wait to see what they come up with next year!

christmas in july (part two)

Hooray for Christmas in July! It's almost like I have to brainwash myself with thoughts of chilly winter air in order to brave the 100 degree temperatures of Tennessee. So in keeping with my air-conditioned delirium, I wanted to share two of my favorite cards from last year.

oopsie daisies

Last year, I was humbled to be asked by Molly Risak, my former boss, great friend and all-around wonder woman, to design for her company Oopsie Daisies. Oopsie Daisies offers comfortable, modest and uplifting hospital apparel for children and adults.
From her site: "Each Oopsie Daisies gown is designed of 100% cotton knit jersey. Long sleeves with snap openings from the wrist to the neckline provide for the functionality of traditional gowns. Sizes are available for children (4T) through adult (XXL). The back of each gown is completely enclosed for additional warmth and modesty.

The message conveyed on each Oopsie Daisies gown is the highlight and primary differentiator from traditional hospital gowns. Empowering patients (as well as anyone who encounters the patient) with encouraging and positive thoughts can provide the mental, emotional and spiritual energy to complement their medical treatment and propel them toward optimal health."

I am so proud and beyond excited to be involved with this innovated company. These designs definitely get placed in the “all time favorite projects” folder!

For pricing and availability of Oopsie Daisies gowns, please visit http://oopsiedaisies.com. Oopsie Daisies is a division of Grin and Bare It Designs LLC.

And a big thank you to Heather Wulfemeyer for the awesome photos.
